ALEXANDER PETRIE

Centaurian

I’m the founder of Gaming Tracks. I’ve been deeply involved in music for over a decade, starting with the piano and later picking up the guitar. My journey into video game music was deeply personal: in 2013, after losing my mother, I found solace in learning to play music on the piano my father bought.

In those early days, I taught myself to play by ear, crafting medleys from games like The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. for a local church talent show. My faith and values have always guided me, and as someone who’s grounded in a Christian environment, I strive to approach everything I do with integrity and a sense of purpose.

In those early days, I taught myself to play by ear, crafting medleys from games like The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. for a local church talent show. My faith in Christ has always guided me, and as I continued developing musically. I began exploring how these values shaped the kinds of stories and sounds I gravitated toward…

One of the pivotal points in my musical journey has been the influence of Final Fantasy VII. While my love for music began with video game soundtracks, I eventually explored the depth of 60s and 70s rock. Coming back to video game music with fresh ears, Final Fantasy VII’s soundtrack—rich in prog-inspired melodies—reminded me why I fell in love with this genre in the first place. Through God’s guidance, that full-circle moment helped blend my earliest passions with everything I’ve picked up along the way.
